Here is a quick summary of what we ordered for a group of 6 people ↓

P.S. We also ordered steamed fish and stir fried kai lan with black fungus, but they weren’t really worth mentioning and I couldn’t fit it into the menu. It didn’t taste bad, but they were dishes that you could easily find better elsewhere.

🦀 How good were the crabs?

We ordered three of their recommended flavors for the crabs. The minimum order was 2 crabs per flavor but you could choose the size of the crabs from M to XXXL.

Our approach was to get an XXL crab but smaller number of crabs so that you’d have a decent amount of crab meat per piece since it’s categorized by weight. If you get a smaller crab size, you’d be missing out on more since it’ll be more shell and you wouldn’t be able to enjoy the meat as much.

My personal crab flavor ranking based on what we ordered was the Kam Heong, Salted Egg, and Oreo Cheese.

We also added a side of fried mantou but it came looking like an uncut hotdog bun, so just remember to ask them to cut it up for you. The texture and flavor was perfectly fine for the buns, it was only the appearance that caught me off guard.

Oreo Cheese Crab

We were really skeptical when we saw that Oreo Cheese was one of their recommended flavors, but you can’t lie that it does grab your attention.

You could choose whether you wanted it to be only cheesy or combined with Oreo crumbs. We decided to go all out and try out the Oreo Cheese combo to satisfy our curiosity.

The flavor was salty and buttery which made it more palatable than expected but the scent was very unique due to the Oreo which I couldn’t get past, making it my least favorite crab flavor. It was similar to how a cheese foam topping on a milk tea tasted like.

I also tried the sauce with a fried mantou and it tasted similar to a polo bun (i.e. pineapple bun) but much saltier.

Signature Creamy Salted Egg Crab

You have the option to choose between a dry or creamy sauce. We chose the dry option.

It tasted really good and had a slight sugar crunch in some areas which made it super addictive. It’s not spicy at all for those who are worried about the spice.

I don’t have much to add on other than it tasted delicious and I’m definitely coming back again to order this and trying out the creamy option instead!

Claypot Kam Heong Butter Crab

Kam Heong is another very popular flavor for crab and tends to have a bit of spice to it for a kick. I’m not sure if it’s because we chose the creamy option, but it didn’t taste spicy even though I could see some chillies in the sauce.

This sauce was perfect to dip with fried mantou to soak up all the flavor!

When eating with the crab alone, the sauce did seem a bit too diluted which was a bummer but still tasted really good. I do think the dryer option might be a better option for it and it’s next on my to-try list.

🍽️ Did you have any other favorites?

The HK Style Steamed Village Chicken (口水鸡) was a big favorite among the group but I personally really liked the Gong Po Mantis Prawn. It was rich in flavor and reminded me of BBQ, even though I’m sure there’s a lot more going on in the sauce. The prawn also had a good crunch to it despite being covered in sauce which is hard to get!

We ordered a small portion for this dish and I felt it added a good variety to the menu before diving into the crab dishes.

This particular branch that I tried is located in the Spring Shopping Mall at Kuching but you can also find their other branches in different cities of Malaysia. There are also a tons of branches in KL, e.g. Pavilion, Arkadia and etc, which I’m definitely interested in trying out since that’s where their main branch is located at!
